How often should I feed my rabbit?

Rabbits require a consistent and healthy diet to maintain good health. Here are some guidelines for feeding your rabbit:

1. Hay: Offer unlimited hay to your rabbit. Timothy hay is the best choice for adult rabbits, while alfalfa hay is better for young rabbits (under 6 months) and pregnant or nursing rabbits.

2. Pellets: Offer a limited number of pellets to your rabbit. One-quarter to one-half cup of pellets per day is sufficient for an adult rabbit, while young rabbits and pregnant or nursing rabbits may require more.

3. Vegetables: Offer a variety of fresh vegetables to your rabbit daily. Leafy greens such as romaine lettuce, parsley, cilantro, and spinach are excellent choices. Limit the amount of starchy vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and peas.

4. Fruits: Offer fruits in moderation. One to two tablespoons of fruit per day is sufficient. Choose fruits with low sugar content such as berries, apples, and pears.

5. Water: Provide unlimited fresh water to your rabbit. Change the water daily, and ensure that the water bottle or bowl is clean.

It's essential to monitor your rabbit's weight and adjust their diet accordingly. Overfeeding can lead to obesity and health problems, while underfeeding can lead to malnutrition. A healthy diet, along with plenty of exercise and socialization, will help your rabbit live a long and happy life.
